Bhagat Singh was one of the greatest freedom fighters who happily embraced death and became a martyr for the sake of his love for his motherland, however, nothing much is said or heard about this great freedom fighter and revolutionary in India. It seems that this great warrior has just become a name to be remembered once in a year to mark his birthday.

He is often referred to as “Shaheed Bhagat Singh.” He was born on 27th of September, 1907, at Chak No. 105, GB, Banga Village, Jaranwala Tehsil in the Lyallpur District of the Punjab Province of British India.“Shaheed” means “martyr” in several South Asian and Middle Eastern languages.

“Shaheedon ki chitaon par lagenge har varsh mele,
Watan pe mitne walon ka yahi baki nishaan hoga.”

(There will be fairs at the tombs of the martyrs every year; this is what will remain of those who die for their country.)
