Centuries after the devastating reign of the Fire Sovereigns, Veridia remains a desolate wasteland, the sun a pale ghost struggling to pierce the perpetual haze.  Sixteen-year-old Eira, an orphan scavenging for survival among the ruins, seeks a relic of the past — a tarnished silver locket rumored to hold the key to her future.  Her search leads her to the ominous Emberveil Nexus, a dormant volcano whispering promises of power. There, amidst the whispering embers, Eira’s touch awakens a dormant power within her, a connection to the very heart of the volcano, far more potent and dangerous than any wielded by the Fire Sovereigns.
News of Eira’s awakening ignites a firestorm of conflict. The Order of Cinder, guardians against the destructive legacy of fire, see in Eira the key to Veridia’s salvation. The Ashguard, haunted by the devastation of the past, believe she is a wildfire waiting to be unleashed. Caught between these warring factions, Eira must navigate not only her volatile powers but the treacherous landscape of a broken world.
Bound to her by fate are Kael, a scarred warrior haunted by the fire’s capricious nature, and Lyria, an archivist seeking to uncover the truth buried beneath layers of ash and distorted history.  Together, they embark on a perilous journey across the ashen wastes, pursued by those who would control or destroy Eira, seeking ancient knowledge that might help her master her powers before they consume her.
