Pascal Engman

Pascal Engman is a Swedish crime novelist and journalist. He is a best-selling author and has been acclaimed by Camilla Läckberg, David Lagercrantz, and The Swedish Crime Writers' Academy as a rising star of the local crime fiction scene.

Pascal Engman was born to a Swedish mother and a Chilean father. Pascal travels to Chile for the first quarter of each year to write his next book. Before beginning his authorship, Engman was a journalist at the Swedish evening newspaper Expressen.

In 2017, he debuted his first book, The Patriots.

"Six months earlier, a long relationship had crashed. I took time off from the Express and flew to Chile. Borrowed a car from my sister, Manuela. I reached the Atacama desert and the fishing village of Chañaral de Aceituno. Fifty houses on cliffs facing the waves of the Pacific. Yellow fishing boats. Pond. Wild donkeys on the hills. Pelicans, patrolling the sky, whales, and killer whales in the water. I don't remember much. I wrote and wrote. For hours. Obsessively. As if in a fever. And a month and a half later, I was done. But I had no publisher. For a while, I thought about not publishing it. But when I got home, I sent the manuscript to Ann-Marie Skarp at Pirat Publishers, who wanted to publish it. She made me an author. I will always be grateful to her for that. Since then, I've been a full-time writer," told the writer on the fifth anniversary of his debut.

After the stand-alone novel, Engman began writing a series about police detective Vanessa Frank, with books Tierra Del Fuego (2018), Femicide (2019), The Widows (2020), and Cocaine (2021). The Vanessa Frank series is sold in over 20 countries and has been translated into English, Spanish, Italian, German, and Polish.

In 2022, the Adlibris Prize nominated his novel X for the Crime Novel of the Year category.
