What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the ability to be completely in the present, as opposed to thinking about the past, the future or any other event that takes us away from the present time. Being mindful includes being aware of where we are, what we are doing and how we feel.

Everyone is capable of practicing MINDFULNESS, even if it seems difficult. Our brains are fully capable of focusing on the present and eliminating life's distractions. That said, it can be incredibly difficult to do so, which is why MINDFULNESS practices are so helpful. Practicing mindfulness can teach and train us to better focus on the present, allowing us to ignore anything else that may be a distraction.

Understanding the point of mindfulness

Before you begin your MINDFULNESS journey, it is important to understand what MINDFULNESS can and cannot do for you. If you have unrealistic expectations about MINDFULNESS, it can be incredibly easy to feel that MINDFULNESS doesn't work and to abandon the practice altogether. Many people believe that mindfulness is about achieving a state of bliss. Bliss is often described as a state of perfect happiness that does not take into account other factors surrounding it. It is important to recognize that MINDFULNESS is not about achieving a state of bliss. This state is impossible to achieve because there will always be challenges and difficulties in life that disturb this supposed state. In other words, happiness does not exist. That said, MINDFULNESS can and should make you feel happier and more content with your life in general, but it is more realistic about it. This allows MINDFULNESS to be oriented to better appreciate yourself and your life. It helps you see beyond short-term struggles and appreciate the life you have, even in the bad times.
